We are seeking Grade IV water treatment operator(s) for a facility in the state of Alabama. This position is for a new state-of-the-art 3/6 mgd surface water treatment facility due to go on-line n the fall of 2011. This facility is located in the central part of Alabama, 30 minutes from Birmingham and only minutes from Pell City.
Our best candidates will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent plus demonstrated aptitude for learning and understanding technical, chemical and mechanical systems and concepts; valid driver’s license; Grade IV water certification with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management or be able to receive reciprocity through them from another state; at least two or more years in the operation, maintenance and process control measures of a similar surface water plant; the ability to work independently and with a team; demonstrate written and verbal communication skills; computer knowledge; and analytical and decision-making skills. Pre-employment drug testing is required.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Water plant operations activities, e.g. water quality sampling, process monitoring, evaluation, and control measures and changes, residuals management, equipment start-ups/downs, cleaning, quality assurance/quality controls, and lab testing and reporting procedures.
- Monitoring and meeting internal quality standards, i.e. Safety and Environmental
- Data collection for daily, weekly, and monthly regulatory and operational reporting as required
- Generating and analyzing reports as required, i.e. monthly/annual reports, safety reports, and financial reports.
- Troubleshooting day-to-day operational issues, and developing solutions to rectify these issues.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Coordinating facility maintenance activities and assisting in developing maintenance programs for equipment.
