Draper Correctional Wastewater Lagoon
Elmore, Ala.
This wastewater treatment lagoon consists of three cells, one primary treatment cell 10.2 acres in area, and two holding lagoons 3.4 acres in area each. The effluent discharges to Mortar Creek. The design capacity of the three cell lagoon is 0.325 MGD. Currently, the wastewater treatment lagoon services over 1300 inmates. This ClearWater project began operations in May 2007.

- Installed chlorination and dechlorination systems
- Installed additional aeration at the lagoons for treatment
- The DOC has been under a consent order from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management for violations of the NPDES permit. ClearWater has been able to get the system back in compliance since taking over operations.
- Aesthetics of overall site improved
- Regular routine and preventative maintenance schedule
- Improved electrical systems
- Certified Operators
- Routine testing of influent and effluent waters

The Elmore Correctional Wastewater Treatment system consists of three facultative lagoons. The treatment cell is approximately 3.5 acres and each of the two holding ponds is approximately 1.0 acre. The design capacity is 0.078 MGD and provides wastewater treatment for over 1200 inmates. This ClearWater project began operations in May 2007.
